Happy Birthday America! and Tips & Tricks to celebrate 4th of July

Ok, let me just say I am officially melting!  It has been in the triple digits here for the last 4 days- 105degress- and today we are moving to a cooler 102 degrees!  The outlook isn't good either- high 90s until early next week!  I'm thinking ice for dinner tonight.  To make matters worse, our state is burning!  12 fires are being fought throughout Colorado, and this heat isn't helping.  Please, please pray for rain to come down upon us!  We need it desperately!

On a blog note: today is Tuesday and that means Tips and Tricks for you.  My tips come from things we've done here around Lewisville for a while, Pinterest, and friends and family. Today's tips & tricks is all about the 4th of July!

For those of you from other countries, we here in the U.S.A. celebrate our independence on July 4th.  That usually means parades, grilling food, and fireworks!  With the 4th just around the corner, I can't wait to celebrate!  My kids love the 4th of July too, and they can't wait to get their hands of some fireworks.  They just may be pyromaniacs but that's another topic for another time.  I'm very proud of the Red, White, and Blue, and our flag shows my favorite combination of those colors.  Ok, so for my fellow Americans, here are some tips & tricks for some simple ways to celebrate!

All of these ideas are 100% not mine!  They come from much more creative women with blogs around the blogosphere who have "pinned" their craftiness and creativity on Pinterest.  If you'd like to pin their ideas, you can go to my 4th of July board and repin your heart out.  You can also find the source of each picture when you click on the picture from Pinterest or the link below each picture here.  Visit them and give them some love!

Off we go....
You all know I LOVE simple and easy recipes!  I love to bake, hate to cook, so any recipe that fits into that criteria helps. With this heat though, I don't foresee baking in my near future.  All these 4th of July food pictures are pretty self explanatory, and since most of them are made with summer fruits which are readily available for great prices right now, I'm so loving these ideas!

Firecracker snacks from Room to Inspire

Marshmallow pops by Living Locurto.  Wet and dip them in spinkles!
Pretzel sticks with frosting and sprinkles- yes, please! Cute idea from PocaCosa.

Another cute pretzel idea by Cupcakes and Cashmere.  She has lots of yummy recipes for the rest of the year too!

Fruit Kabobs by Giggles Galore.  This girl knows how to throw a 4th of July party let me tell you!

Rice Krispy Treat "Sparklers".  Seriously a great idea and so simple from 5Minutes for Mom.
I never get tired of Rice Krispy treats- one of my favorites.  Lil Luna made these and I think I'll do the same using a star cookie cutter!

Fruit platter made of strawberries, honeydew, raspberries, and blueberries.  Summer fruit "CELEBRATES" the 4th of JULY!

Another fruit platter.  This one is made with strawberries, bananas, and blueberries on skewers!  Great for guest to grab.  This idea come Party City who by the way is having a 50% off sale on all their 4th of July party decor.
Who doesn't love strawberries? Well, ok my daughter doesn't, but most of us LOVE them!  Use a little icing/frosting and dip in blue sprinkles.  Very patriotic don't you think?
More fruit combinations.  Your guest will LOVE you! by Sparkling or Still
Watermelon is a basic necessity during the summer here in Lewisville.  I'm doing this and throwing in a few blueberries.  Voila!  Instant patriotic fruit bowl! Hip Hip Hooray
Oh EM GEE! Your little little guest will have fun with this one.  Thank you Lisa Storm
And isn't protecting our little ones the most important on our minds!  Sparklers were my favorite as a kid, and my kids LOVE holding them too.  Use a cup to protect little hands.  Great idea from Love to Dream, Do You.
Need a quick and easy idea for a patriotic centerpiece?  Use red, white, and blue gumballs, candy, painted rocks, whatever you have around and place flags around and in them!
You still have lots of time to pick up your supplies and make it a festive 4th of July!

May God Bless You and God Bless America!

Blessings,
Lisa

  3. Looking at all those yummy good for you goodies makes me so hungry. Great suggestions. Watch out I'm on my way to the grocery store.
We live West of Grand Junction, close to UT border. We're up about 3 hundred feet higher than G.J. looking east at G.J. the smoke is very evident hanging over the valley. It's so scarey.
We lived in San Diego area years ago, we all know what happened to that area not long ago. We've had terrible wind for weeks now, hanging laundry out is a rather disagreeable task these days, a more than usual amount of grumbling is heard trying to hang up sheets. One good thing is by the time I'd hung the other things the sheets were dry. It was 103 here today. Our dog even wants to stay in, he's a black lab so gets pretty darned hot.

  13. I've lived in Colorado twice and we still visit relatives there in Colorado Springs and Denver -- have hiked through some of the areas that burned. Stay cool -- ice for dinner made me lol -- and safe. Thanks for sharing on Busy Monday!
